Do I need a SAMK library card?

You need the library card to

request or borrow library materials
enter the self-service library

You don't need the library card to

access library materials online
visit the library during customer service hours
read books and magazines at the library

When you are a SAMK student

You can get the library card in two ways:

Install Tuudo on your phone. Log in. Select Library in the menu and activate a library card. You will then see the barcode of your library card in Tuudo.
Visit the library's customer service. You can get a plastic library card instead of a digital card.

Once you have got the library card, you can also see the barcode by logging into SAMK-Finna with your phone. Select Your account → Library cards. You can use this barcode at the library.

Students' contact details are automatically updated from student administration to the library system.

When you are a member of SAMK staff

You can get the library card in two ways:

Install Tuudo on your phone. Log in. Select Library in the menu and activate a library card. You will then see the barcode of your library card in Tuudo.
Visit the library's customer service. You can get a plastic library card instead of a digital card. If your SAMK ID card has a barcode, it can be activated as a library card.

Once you have got your library card, you can also see the barcode by logging into SAMK-Finna with your phone. Select Your account → Library cards. You can use this barcode at the library.

When you are a visitor

By visitor, we mean you who are not a student or staff member of SAMK.

With the SAMK library card you can borrow printed books from our campus libraries in Pori, Rauma, Huittinen (Kuninkainen Campus) and Kankaanpää (Fine Arts Campus). When you want a library card, we ask that you first fill in the form online:

Select Login on SAMK-Finna.
Select Email (visitors).
Select Click here to sign up for a SAMK library card..
Enter your email address.
Select Login.

We will send you an email with a link to register as a SAMK Library customer. If you do not get the message, please check your spam folder.

Then visit our library to activate your account and pick up your library card. Be prepared to prove your identity.

You also have a digital library card. Once you have got your plastic library card, you can see the barcode by logging into SAMK-Finna with your phone. Select Your account → Library cards. You can use this digital barcode at the library.

You must be over the age of 15 to get the library card.

Your responsibilities as a customer

As a borrower, you undertake to comply with the library's loan periods and price list and to handle the library's material with care. You agree to notify the library of any changes to your contact details. Your library card is personal. You are responsible for the material borrowed with your library card. Please inform the library if your card is lost so that we can prevent it from being used.

As a user of SAMK premises, you agree to comply with our code of conduct. Especially during self-service hours, you must keep the library clean and tidy and give those working in the library peace and quiet to study.

Validity of your library account

As a student or staff member your library account is valid for the duration of your studies or employment. You can continue to be a library customer even after your studies or employment has ended. Contact the library to update your contact details. You will get a plastic library card.

As a visitor your library account is valid for a few years and can be renewed by contacting the library. You can check the expiration date on SAMK-Finna. Select Login → Your account → Profile. We will remove from our customer register those customers whose last borrowing transaction was a long time ago.

Validity of your SAMK-Finna account

You may at any time delete your information on Finna by closing your account on the service. All data is automatically deleted once more than 18 months have passed since you last logged into the service.
