Composer Fredrik Pacius (1809 - 1891) was born in Hamburg. He moved to Finland in 1845. Pacius reorganised musical life in Helsinki and composed the national anthem Vårt land (Maamme-laulu) and the first Finnish opera, Kung Karls jakt.
