The thesis deals with the construction of personal practical theory from the perspective of artistic work and pedagogy. It approaches the modern as a problematic subject-object relationship and the challenging strategies of modern thinking. Criticism is directed at the effects of modern dichotomies: such as the confrontation between the internal and the external. At the same time, the modern is seen as a unified narrative and a fragmentation of society. The text does not describe the formation of thinking, but shapes thinking. The performative approach is judged in relation to the representationalist tradition in the visual arts. In the thesis, artistic production is seen as participation in social processes. The historical construction of modern thinking and its implications for modernity are placed under critical scrutiny. Through bodily, performative, and materialistic thinking, artistic research and the knowledge produced by art are approached. The universal representation produced by modern thinking is challenged by performativity whose knowledge is local and time-bound. In the resulting discourse, the political cannot be excluded from art. In the thesis, art is seen as bringing the imagination to negotiations, where reality takes its form: It does not describe reality, but participates in the production of reality. Representation and performativity are not described as opposites of each other but as differences in approaches. In contemporary art, performativity is seen as built-in. The approach emphasizes corporeality and multisensory.
