Our thesis has been implemented as a functional thesis. We created a peer support group on social media on Instagram. The support group is for students who face challenges and problems in their studies. The virtual peer support group is run by students and our operating model is a solution-oriented approach to study challenges. We initially set out in our thesis to map out the most common challenges a student faces. We brought a theoretical framework from literature, research, news, articles, and social media. We also compile experience data for our thesis on various media channels and their users. We delimited the topics of the thesis that affect the progress of studies. Our topics were student mental health challenges, study exhaustion, study stress, learning difficulties, financial problems in the study of diversity, procrastination, and corona time distance learning. We found out how and to what extent these above-mentioned topics affect the studies of university students in Finland. We created a virtual peer support group for students based on these topics. We set out to find out how students could receive peer support for study progress challenges at a low threshold. In our work, we became acquainted with solution-focused operations and the effectiveness of peer support in challenging life situations that a student may face in their studies. We intended to create a low-threshold service that would work with volunteers for example, in the context of tutor activities. Social media and various virtual channels as well as groups now play a big role in the lives of students. The virtual interaction channel allows for conversation and access to information at any time of the day and users can also chat anonymously. The purpose of our thesis was to create a new operating model to support students and create peer support activities. The Korona pandemic has plagued the world for two years and the end is still in sight. Students are one of the groups most affected by the pandemic. We want to increase interaction and a sense of community in students' lives because they haven’t had these during the pandemic.
