Login and My account

Login with SAMK user ID

SAMK students and staff login with SAMK user ID. Logging in, you will have access to various online services. You may for instance check and renew your loans, place requests and save favourites and searches.

Login:

  • Select Login.
  • Select Haka Login.
  • Login with your SAMK user ID.

You have now logged in. As a new Finna user you must add your SAMK library card to your Finna account. Do this:

  • Select your name and My account.
  • Select Library cards.
  • Select Connect library card.
  • Choose library: SAMK.
  • Library card name: Type a name for your card (can be anything).
  • Username/barcode: Type the barcode number from your SAMK library card.
  • Password/PIN: Type the password of your SAMK library card. Try your last name or previously saved password.
  • Select Save.
  • If the password is not correct ask the library to reset your password.

Now the borrowed books, requests and fines should be visible in Finna.

To do for a new Finna user: Go to Profile and set your due date reminder. Set e-mail for the reminder. Set your default pick up location. Also change your library card password.

Next time, use the Haka Login with your SAMK user ID.

Always end your session by selecting Logout and close the internet browser (on a public computer).

The SAMK user ID and the connected Finna account will stop working after graduation. However, you can login with your SAMK library card.

Login with library card

Others than SAMK students and staff login with library card information. Logging in, you will have access to various online services. You may for instance check and renew your loans, place requests and save favourites.

Login:

  • Select Login.
  • Login with your library card.
  • Choose library: SAMK.
  • Username/barcode: Type the barcode number from your SAMK library card.
  • Password/PIN: Type the password of your SAMK library card. First try your previously saved password, then your last name.
  • Select Login.
  • If the password is not correct ask the library to reset your password.

The borrowed books, requests and fines should be now visible in Finna.

To do for a new Finna user: Go to Profile and set your due date reminder. Set e-mail for the reminder. Also change your library card password.

Always end your session by selecting Logout and close the internet browser (on a public computer).

My account

Selecting your name and My account you can access your personal tabs: Profile, Checked out items, Hold and requests, Fines, Library cards, Favourites, and Saved searches.

Profile

My profile

  • You can update the email address you use in Finna. NOTE! This email address is only for email sent by Finna (due date reminders and saved searches). Also remember to inform the library of changes in email address.
  • To do for a new Finna user: Set your due date reminder. Set e-mail for the reminder. Set a preferred pick up location for requests. Also change your library card password.

Change password / PIN code

  • You can change your library card password. Use characters a-z and 1-9. Length 5–12 characters.
  • Contact the library if you forgot your password.

Personal details maintained by the library

  • These are the personal details in SAMK library customer register.
  • This is the email for availability notices and overdue notices.
  • This information can only be changed at the library.

Do this if your password has been changed by the library

Instructions for SAMK students: Log in to Finna. Select Haka Login. Add your library card to your Finna account. Also go to Profile and set your due date reminder.

Instructions for visiting customers: Log in to Finna with your library card number. Go to Profile and set your due date reminder.

You should follow these instructions to get due date reminders after your library card password has been changed. In some cases Finna may remind you by sending an e-mail titled "Failed to check due dates of your loans".

Checked out items and renewal

  • Your checked out items are shown on the page arranged by the due date.
  • You can renew selected items or all items.
  • Renewal does not succeed if there are requests by other customers, for instance.
  • During database service break at 10–11 pm renewal may not succeed.

Holds and requests

  • Here are your pending holds.
  • You can place a new hold on a book by searching the book and selecting Place a new request.
  • Please contact the library if you can't place a hold online.
  • You can cancel your holds on books you don't need.

Fines

  • Here are the fines you have incurred, i.e. how much there is to pay and why.
  • 20 euros or more will result in suspension of borrowing rights.

Library cards

  • Here are the details of your library card connected to your Finna account.
  • If the card information is missing see above how to login with SAMK ID and how to connect your library card to your Finna account.

Favourites

  • You can add the searched items to your own favourites by selecting the pin symbol
  • Items are first saved in My favourites. Then you can move or copy them to the list of your choice.
  • You can sort your references and add notes (Edit).
  • You can create and remove your own public or private Favourites lists. The address of a public list can be copied from the address bar. You can then share the address.
  • You can name the lists as you like and move their contents from one list to another.
  • You can share references or forward them by email.
  • You can export references to RefWorks.

Saved searches

  • The searches you carry out are saved during the session at Your recent searches.
  • To store important references select Save.
  • You can delete searches or empty the history by selecting Delete.
  • Alerts service offers you new references daily or weekly, based on criteria provided by you. The results will be delivered to your email.

Logout

Always end your session by selecting Logout and close the internet browser (on a public computer).
